Australia–India Trade Trends in 2026: Key Import and Export Opportunities

Australia and India continue to strengthen their trade relationship, creating new opportunities for importers, exporters and businesses in both countries. In 2025, two-way trade in goods and services reached approximately AUD $50.2 billion, highlighting the importance of this growing partnership.

Key Trade Opportunities

Australia exports a range of products to India, including minerals, resources, agricultural products and wool. Meanwhile, Indian exports to Australia include textiles, clothing, machinery, pharmaceuticals and other manufactured goods.

The Australia–India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA), which came into effect in December 2022, has helped improve market access and reduce tariffs on eligible products. Both countries are also exploring opportunities to expand economic cooperation through a broader trade agreement.

Businesses can explore opportunities in agriculture, critical minerals, renewable energy, education and technology. However, success requires understanding customs regulations, product standards, shipping costs and market demand.

Conclusion

In 2026, Australia–India trade offers opportunities for businesses seeking to expand internationally. Researching market conditions and understanding trade requirements can help importers and exporters build sustainable business relationships.
